Pearl Farm
Hong Kong is a peninsula that boasts abundant marine resources. Tai Po Sea is not only the site of the ancient pearling grounds of Mei Chuan Du, but also a pearl farming hub in that was home to numerous villages. However, the construction of the Plover Cove Reservoir by the Hong Kong government in the 1960s transformed the local environment. Today, we revisit this site, committed to reviving Hong Kong's pearl farming industry, preserving the millennia-old story of the "Pearl of the Orient" and ensuring this unique cultural heritage is passed down to the next generation.
We leverage local fishery and agricultural resources and collaborate with mariculture raft owners, hoping to achieve mutual benefit, helping the pearl farming industry develop and ultimately revitalize Hong Kong's fisheries and agriculture.
